Ted was born in Whtiehaven in 1925. He joined the Society in 1953 when he took the role of Francesco in the Coronation production of 'The Gondoliers'.

He became pianist in 1960 and Musical Director on the death of his father, Alfred, in 1966 for the production of 'Ruddigore'. He held this post until 1997 when he retired. He has served on the Executive Committee for many years and his opinion concerning the musical content of shows is invaluable. 'The Gondoliers' holds special affection for Ted and his wife, Betty.
